Ottawa School of Theology & Spirituality (2026-09-06) The OSTS has been part of the Ottawa church and religious community since 1964. We operate only to cover our costs and offer a variety of faith orientated courses online except for two in person courses. Our lecturers are drawn from Ottawa’s universities, and clergy of various backgrounds. There are no exams and no homework assignments. Lacing Up for Our Neighbours: (2026-09-06) Join us on Sunday, October 4th, 2026, from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM for the annual Centretown Churches Social Action Committee (CCSAC) walkathon. We will gather and begin our walk at Canadian Martyrs Church on Main Street, following a 2 km or 4 km route along the Rideau Canal. This is a wonderful, family-friendly event, so please feel free to bring strollers and leashed dogs! 100% of all funds raised go directly to the Centretown Community Food Centre. Bible Study Group (2026-08-30) We are resuming the Bible Study Group via Teleconference (see instruction below), for the Friday, September 11, 10:30 a.m. We will be reading the Book of 2 Samuel, which tells the history of King David’s reign over Israel. This reign is characterized by a time of great success and blessing followed by the painful consequences of his personal moral failures. Throughout the study, we will be keeping in mind the question: what is so special about David that he is called a man after God’s own heart? Come and join us and experience for yourself the wonder, and the power of the words of God in the Scripture. Bible Study (2026-08-16) The Bible Study will reconvene in early September and likely studying the Book of 2 Samuel.
News from Ottawa Campus Chaplaincy: (2026-08-16) The Board of Ottawa Campus Chaplaincy would like to inform our supporting community that our current chaplain, Ryan Farrell, has been called to and accepted the position of pastor with Kanata Community Church. Ryan will remain in his current, full-time chaplaincy role until October 17, 2026, in order to support the ministry of OCC in its busy fall launch season. Ryan is currently assisting the board as we work hard to plan for interim measures – including the desire to hire an interim leader – for the coming academic year. We hope to have temporary, alternative staffing support in place by the end of September.
Interim Campus Chaplain: (2026-08-16) The Board of Ottawa Campus Chaplaincy is inviting applications for an Interim Campus Chaplain. Interested persons are invited to request a job description by sending an email to board@ottawacampuschaplaincy.org. Venezuela Earthquake Response, Cdn Foodgrains Bank(2026-06-28)
On June 24th, two earthquakes struck Venezuela, causing widespread destruction. Homes, schools and critical infrastructure have been damaged or destroyed. St Giles Presbyterian Women (2026-06-21) The Presbyterian Women remind you that Sunday June 28th will be the last day to contribute unperishable food items for our June food drive. Confirmation Service (2026-06-14) The Session of St. Giles has approved the request of Scott Lancaster, to be confirmed in faith in a public worship service. He is a former member of Cushman Memorial Church. He has recently completed the education component of the confirmation process with Rev. Paul Wu. The Confirmation Service is schedule to take place on the Sunday of June 14, 2026.
Strawberry Luncheon St. Andrew’s Church (2026-06-14) St. Andrew’s Church, Stittsville is having a Strawberry Luncheon on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 1 to 3 p.m. All congregations within the presbytery are invited.
BBQ Announcement: CALLING ALL YOUTH and YOUTH LEADERS IN THE PRESBYTERY (2026-06-14) The Youth Working Group invites you to their year-end barbecue. We will meet at The Trolley Station at Britannia Park on Thursday June 25th, 2026, from 5pm – 8pm. We will eat some delicious food, play some games, and celebrate our graduating students. Glebe-St. James Shared Services (2026-06-14) Glebe St James is having roof work done this summer. The parking lot will be closed off. Access on Sunday morning will likely be through the First Avenue doors (rainbow stairs and the ramp) but there may be times when these doors are not accessible. The Lyon Street door should be available throughout the summer and there is a lift at that door.
General Assembly (2026-06-07) The 151st General Assembly (GA) of the Presbyterian Church in Canada will meet at York University (Keele Campus) from Sunday, June 7 until Thursday, June 11, 2026. The GA is the highest decision-making body of our church, voting on matters of theology and polity that affects the whole denomination. Chrissie Kalonga, an elder of St. Giles, will be attending the GA as a commissioner representing the Presbytery of Ottawa. Justin Wu, a member of St. Giles, has been nominated to serve on the International Affairs Committee (three-year term). Rev. Paul Wu has also been nominated to serve on the Board of the Presbyterian College (2nd three-year term). Interested in Hospital Visitation? (2026-06-07) All members of the Presbyterian churches in Ottawa are invited to attend a brief meeting on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, from 5:45 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Parkwood Church, 10 Chesterton Drive, Ottawa to help us reflect on and serve the current needs of the presbytery regarding hospital visitation. This program has been mostly dormant since COVID-19 shut it down and we would like to know if there is a desire to get it started up and volunteers to help do so.
