Come join in the singing and hear a little bit of the history of our Christmas carols. - Christmas Tableau (2025-12-21)
At the end of the Christmas Eve service, we are putting together a ‘Christmas Tableau’. The word originates with the French “tableaux vivant” or living pictures, but the concept may go back much further to the early Christian period some 2,000 years ago. A Christmas tableau is different from a Christmas pageant, because there is no acting or movement. Mary, Joseph, the shepherds, kings, angels, and animals simply take their places quietly before the scene is illuminated as if it were a painting or carving. In that moment, we are able to travel back in time to be witnesses to the Birth of Christ. Volunteers are needed to take part in the Tableau. Please contact Laura for more details. - The Mission Tree (2025-12-21)
The Mission Tree has been found and set up in the narthex. Donations of socks, hats or mitts can be put on the tree Christmas Eve and December 28th. All donations go to the Ottawa Mission. - Cameron Christmas Concert Review (2025-12-21)
We have received a very positive review on the December 5th Cameron Highlanders’ Christmas Concert at St. Giles, from Christopher Adam, the Editor of The Ottawa Churches Chronicle. This publication provides insightful and comprehensive reflections on the heritage, life & work of faith communities in Ottawa and Eastern Ontario. Mr. Adam is particularly impressed with how the tradition of St. Giles is connected to the salvation history of Christianity, through the reading of the Prophet Isaiah—indeed, on them light has shined. The Ottawa Safety Council is requesting the congregation’s support in sharing a need for crossing guards starting in January 2026 and for the remainder of the school year. When the snow and ice arrive, the school children and drivers in our communities are at their most vulnerable. We are hopeful that through sharing this safety need with community members, neighbours, and friends, we might be able to fill the remaining vacant intersections in school zones across the City of Ottawa. Please see Poster on side-door bulletin or visit www.crossing-guard.ca - Mission Related Giving at November 30/25 (2025-12-07)

- Bible Study: 1 Samuel (2025/11/02)
The Friday Bible Study will be resuming on November 14, at noon time, via Teleconference. We are starting the Book of 1 Samuel, looking into the transition of Israel from the time of judges to the time of kings. During this turbulent period, we will be focusing on the lives of three main characters: Samuel, Saul and David. We will look at how they were each called by God and served to further God’s reign. This is a book that helps us to reflect on how leadership is understood in the Bible, and what leadership means to us, the community of faith today. All are welcome, come and see. For more information, talk to the Rev. Paul Wu.
